The ole’ saying that “Love is blind” is oftentimes true. When we’re in love, we se our partner’s strengths, not their weaknesses. And even when we acknowledge the weak points, we usually excuse them. This seemingly “blind eye” feels good, but even better is “true love” with our “eyes wide open-love” that sees all and yet still chooses to love.
Unconditional love is one of those quiet traits of love that does not get a lot of attention. However, extreme love, puppy love, unrequitted love, forbidden love, love at first sight- well they get their fair share of publicity.
Yet, when was the last time you heard of someone talk about love that sees the good, the bad, and the ugly and yet keeps on loving? Loving is a rigorous task. It calls us to love in spite of circumstances and to put others before ourselves. I would like to call it grown-up love-true love.
Nothing beats love at first sight except love with insight.
