Mary the mother of Jesus, knew that she was not important in the eyes of the world. Besides there is no value in pride. Pride is only a false sense of righteousness, that resides in the imagination of those who possess it in their heart.
I would like to believe that when God chose Mary to bear His Son Jesus, He ignored the proud and powerful. Demonstrating His love for the unimportant people of the world. Those who would follow His ways in spite of being misunderstood, mocked, and even killed by those of the world. One thing that we know of Mary, she was humble and claimed no part in God’s glory.
It is our faithfulness, trust, and love that is of “great value” to God. And like Mary, everything that we do should be for the glory of God, and not done for personal reward.
He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. Luke 1: 51-52
