For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6
Not one of us could bear to look upon the glory of God directly. It would blind us if we tried; we would have to turn our faces away, just as our eyes naturally close in the face of a bright light.
However, God knew that we needed to see the little that we could bear, so He sent His Son Jesus Christ to give us a taste of glory. Through His life and example, Jesus gave us knowledge of God’s power, greatness, and love.
Isn’t it good to know that one day we will be strong enough to be in His presence without turning away. Until then, we are allowed to bask in the presence of the Son.
