I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. Galatians 2:20
When Jesus died on the cross He said, “It is finished.” He didn’t say, “I am finished,” because three days later He rose from the dead. The “it” refers to His finished work of redemption and to the complete fulfillment of the law that would make our redemption possible.
His death is our death, and His life is our life. Because we are in Him, when He died we died, and when He rose we rose with Him to walk in “newness of life.”
