“Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.” Colossians 3:13 NLT
There is an ole saying that goes ” Hate hurts the hater, more than the hated.” And when we stop and think about it, its oh so true. Think about it for a moment.
Each one of us has been in the position to love our enemy and choose forgiveness. Keeping in mind that forgiveness doesn’t excuse the offense, but simply when we forgive we show Christ to the world.
In Ephesians 4:32, we are told to “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”
Its challenging at times to forgive. However, God will help us to let go of every grudge as we watch the Spirit build into us a place where others through us see the love of Christ.
There is no better moment when we imitate Jesus, than when we forgive and choose love instead of hate. And one thing is for sure, we all need forgiveness daily for the ommitted and committed.
If you find yourself in the position of unforgiveness today, look to the cross and remember that Jesus died for us. It should make the decision to forgive much more easy.
We are forgiven in the same manner in which we choose to forgive.
