ONE Who Understands

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.  John 1:14

From this one scripture verse, we trust that God understands every situation that we face because He made us and sees everything that happens to us.  We also know He understands because He has been to earth and experienced life as a human being.  He “became flesh and made his dwelling among us” as the person Jesus Christ.

Jesus’ earthly life included a wide range of difficulty. He felt the searing heart of the sun, the pain of an empty stomach, and even the uncertainty of homelessness.  Emotionally, He endured the tension of disagreements, the burn of betrayal, and the ongoing threat of violence.

Jesus experienced the joys of friendship and family love, as well as the worst problems that we face here on earth.  He provides hope for us all.  He is the Wonderful Counselor who patiently listens to all of our concerns with insight and care.  He is the One who can say, I’ve been through that too, and I understand.

So whenever you feel that there isn’t anyone who understands how you feel, or what you are going through regardless of what it entails.  Don’t stress it. God does understand, and  has provided everything that we need to overcome.

Be encouraged today.

Lay It At the Cross

As a toddler, I began doodling and writing.    From the time I could hold a crayon, I would write on any piece of paper in sight.  Needless to say, once I started kindergarten,  (after finishing my assignment of course)… I would draw on the corners of my worksheet; the sun, clouds, smiling faces….typical kid stuff.

The teacher, Mrs. Wilkerson wasn’t nearly as thrilled as I with my artistic creations, telling my mother that I was spending way too much time day-dreaming in class.

Smiling now, I didn’t see it that way…..I was simply making my paper pretty, a letter of sorts to her. 6820724_orig.jpg [Side note: To this day, she was my favorite educator and provides me with such fond memories of my childhood.]

Ok! Back to the subject……

However, as I matured into adulthood, I realized that this was a coping tool for me when I needed to gain perspective on whatever was going on in life.

Most of the time after pouring my heart out onto a blank page, I felt that I was better able to step back and view whatever is/was going on more objectively than my emotions would otherwise allow, yet with NO real plausible solution.

Where am I going with this?

Well, just as recording my thoughts onto paper offers me fresh perspective, I now know that pouring our hearts out to GOD in prayer helps us gain His perspective and remind us of His power in whatever we are facing.

When we’re faced with a situation that brings anxiety, fear, or a deep awareness that getting through it will require more than what we possess, lets not resort to doodling and turning it over in our minds.  Instead, run straight to Jesus.

A great example was provided us in 2 Kings 19: 9-19 .  King Hezekiah, after receiving an unsettling letter from an ominous adversary the Assyrians, whom threatened to destroy Jerusalem, as they had many other nations….placed the letter before the LORD.  He prayerfully called upon God to deliver the people, so that the world would recognize that He alone could deliver them.

“Then[Hezekiah] went up to the temple of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD.” 2Kings 19:14

We too, should follow this example.  When we receive unsettling news. Pray, meditate in the word of God, and place whatever problem and or concern at the feet of Jesus. Trusting that He will intercede on our behalf, order our steps, provide a solution, and calm our uneasy hearts, all according to His purpose and plan.

God is our greatest help in times of trouble. He is our Deliverer from every fiery trial and a testimony to the world that He is in control of all things.

Sometimes Love…

Sometimes love can be quiet
And sometimes love can be still,
But always love is patientyt
And is a choice of our will

Sometimes love can be vibrant —
Sometimes it’s not easily felt,
But always love is eternal
And is never boastful or proud

Sometimes love can be tender
Then sometimes hard to express,
But always love is truthful
And believes in the very best

Sometimes love can be exciting
And love can sometimes be sweet
For love is always trusting
And chooses never to envy

Sometimes love can be painful
Then sometimes love’s like a song,
But always love is forgiving
And keeps no record of wrongs

Sometimes love can be gentle
Then sometimes it’s just a word,
But always love protects and hopes
And love is always preserved

Love is never self-seeking
And is never angered or rude
Love can never fail us,
For God’s love is faithful and true.

Describing Love

A heart of love is pure and kind.
It knows no evil ways.
It’s jealous not, nor proud in mind.
Its patience never fails.kristamcgeebooks

A heart of love will suffer long
And bear all piercing pain.
It forgives and gives all life long,
Waits not for any gain.

Its manners good, a hopeful love,
So faithful and so true.
Its very root is from above,
The Lord who sees us through.

May each of us desire this heart,
A heart of love divine.
From Christ-like love, let’s not depart.
It’s true love best defined.

Wounds That Bless

THE purple grape must be crushed
To make the sweet, red wine,
And furnace fires must fiercely burn,
The drossy gold to refine;
The wheel must cruelly grind,
Else where the jewel’s light?Image result for wounds that bless
And the steel submit to the polishing,
Or how would the sword grow bright?

How then, my soul, wilt thou
The Spirit’s fruits possess,
Except thou lovingly yield thyself
To the Hand that wounds to bless?
Then patiently let the fire
Consume all earthly dross–
Thou canst not hope to wear the Crown,
If thou refuse the Cross!

Providences of God

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD–Psa. 27: 14.

Time is an important element in all God’s plans: we are not, therefore, to be imagesTYZ6D74Odisappointed when the test of endurance is applied while the blessings we crave tarry long. God took time to frame the world and to fit it for human habitation; time to give the world its necessary experience with evil; time to prepare for the advent of Christ as the world’s Redeemer; time for the preparation of the Church and the rest of His Gospel-Age people to share in His glorious reign; and time must be allowed for the shaping and adjusting of the individual affairs of His people. God has not forgotten when the answers to our prayers seem to tarry long. He who heeds the sparrow’s fall and numbers the very hairs of our heads is not indifferent to the faintest call or the smallest necessity of His humblest child—
The providences of God on behalf of His people involve many delays to test their patience. Those who endure these tests with courageous hearts will thereby become strong in the Lord. Therefore they wait on the Lord amid all the varying circumstances of life, assured that He who is for them will manifest this in every time of need that comes into their lives.

Hour of Temptation

Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth–Rev. 3: 10.

This is the special reward of those who are running the race with patient endurance in the present time, in the Laodicean period. While it was not our privilege to escape the hour of temptation, it is our privilege to have a counter-balancing special blessing as a result of living in the time of our Lord’s parousia (presence). We may have His fellowship, His instruction, His dispensing of spiritual food which is now “meat in due season,” in a manner and to a degree in which none of the faithful of past periods enjoyed these. But as we might expect, this greatest favor is correspondingly offset by the subtlety and severity of the trials of this hour of temptation coming upon the whole world. If ever patient endurance was necessary it is necessary now.
