I’ve shut the door on Yesterday,
It’s sorrows and mistakes.
I’ve locked within its gloomy walls
Past failures and heartaches.

And now I throw the key away,
To seek another room,
And furnish it with hope and smiles
And every springtime bloom.

No thought shall enter this Abode
That has a hint of pain;
And envy, malice and distrust
Shall never entrance gain.

I’ve shut the door on Yesterday
And thrown the key away –
Tomorrow holds no fear for me
Since I have found Today.

Thank You Lord

I thank you for your strength Lord to make it through hard days
For the courage to move forward when skies are dark and gray
I thank you for the comfort found in your loving arms
And your leading Spirit that moves to keep me from all harmholding Jesus

I thank you for the love that your so freely give
And for your encouragement all through this life we live
I thank you for this world you created for all mankind
And thank you for our relationships; our precious ties to bind

I thank you for the good and for the bad that teaches me the lessons of life
Those circumstances that teach me how to move through the struggles and the strife
I thank you for the peace you give that surpasses all we know
And for the forgiveness to us that you are able to show

Most of all I thank you for Jesus Christ your Son
And pray that in His name your blessed will to be done!

Let Me Find…

Let me find youkristamcgeebooks
Where you hide
Behind closed door
In your lonely room.
Let me brush aside
Your tousled hair,
Wipe the tears
From off your cheek;
See into your lonely heart
And lift the pain.
Let me find you.

Let me find you
Standing in that place alone;
Crowds around you –
No one seeing,
No one feeling.
Let me look into
Your lonely eyes –
Make them smile,
Reflecting mine;
Make them shine.
Let me find you.

I am love,
Sent from God
For everyone.
I am your right.
I am your gift
To lead you up
From out the night.
Don’t give up.
There’s someone out there
To fill your cup.
Let me find you.

Lifetime Adventure

As a young girl, one of my favorite times during the summer was when I spent a week at Girl Scout camp. At the end of the week, I’d sit elbow-to-elbow with my new girl scout buddies in front of an enormous bonfire.  There, we would share our adventures of the week, sing, and also receive any new badges earned too.  It was a bitter sweet moment. Happy that we were with friends and going back home to family. Yet sad, knowing our week of fun and adventure was nearing a close.

Thinking back on this time, brought to mind when Elisha decided to follow the prophet Elijah,  Elisha did something incredible that made it difficult, impossible really, for him to return to his prior occupation of farming.

After going home and having a farewell banquet, Elisha “took a yoke of oxen and slaughtered them” 1 Kings 19:21..  Leaving his way of life, he burned up his plowing equipment. He roasted the freshly butchered meat over the blaze and fed everyone present.  Then “[Elisha] arose and followed Elijah, and became his servant.

Giving ourselves to God, who deserves our devotion, often comes with a price and at times produce moments of difficulty.  Yes, at times, it will mean making difficult decisions about friendships/relationships, employment/finances, and letting go of things that require making changes in our lives.  However, nothing compares with what we gain when we continue on with Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, “Whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.”Matthew 16:25

The Girl scout adventures were great, and I have many fond memories.  Yet, living a life following Jesus Christ is the greatest adventure I’ve ever been on, and the destination will be Heaven for us who choose to follow Him wholeheartedly.

“Fix” of Choice

My struggle isn’t your struggle, and your struggle isn’t my struggle. Yet, one thing is certain, we all have struggles. We learn fairly early in life as children, ways to cushion the blows and make life more bearable with temporary fixes.

There are many ways of escape: Some become hermits, food and drink obsessions, chronic “mall hogs”, drugs and alchohol, sexual relations and pornography, and even chronic gym rats… just to name a few. Yes, each person has found themselves trying to find comfort from the many toils of life in some way or another. However, none of these things will provide longterm peace. Once the “fix” of choice wears off, the cycle begins again.

But there is a peace that restores us mentally, emotionally, and physically. We can rest in the perfect peace of Jesus Christ. His peace alone provides complete wholeness to mind, body, and soul. He restores our entire body. We breathe easier, we can relax, and smile again because we know that everything will be alright.

None of us want peace to be a once-in-a-while thing. We want to know peace as a way of life. Jesus alone brings harmony and serenity to all of our relationships and interactions. Jesus is our peace, and is in complete control of all things. He is our “FIX of choice”!

The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace. Numbers 6: 24-26
