Life has its tests

“…Beloved, do not be amazed and bewildered at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test your quality, as though something strange (unusual and alien to you and your position) were befalling you…” 1 Peter 4:12 AMP

Life has times of hardship, struggles, trials, temptations, despair, loneliness and heartbreak. We all go through times like these from time to time. There is a saying that goes ‘Life is a bed of Roses’ implying it’s easy and sweet. There’s probably a lot of truth in that – considering the ‘thorns’, but it’s far from easy and sweet. A prick can be painful! God can use what we go through to rely on Him more and build our character to be Christ-like.

So yes, I guess life can be like a bed of roses – but we need to be mindful of the thorns.

There are tests in life, I know
The thorns are there, but so is the rose.

Providences of God

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD–Psa. 27: 14.

Time is an important element in all God’s plans: we are not, therefore, to be imagesTYZ6D74Odisappointed when the test of endurance is applied while the blessings we crave tarry long. God took time to frame the world and to fit it for human habitation; time to give the world its necessary experience with evil; time to prepare for the advent of Christ as the world’s Redeemer; time for the preparation of the Church and the rest of His Gospel-Age people to share in His glorious reign; and time must be allowed for the shaping and adjusting of the individual affairs of His people. God has not forgotten when the answers to our prayers seem to tarry long. He who heeds the sparrow’s fall and numbers the very hairs of our heads is not indifferent to the faintest call or the smallest necessity of His humblest child—
The providences of God on behalf of His people involve many delays to test their patience. Those who endure these tests with courageous hearts will thereby become strong in the Lord. Therefore they wait on the Lord amid all the varying circumstances of life, assured that He who is for them will manifest this in every time of need that comes into their lives.

His Billows

His Billows

“All thy waves and thy billows are gone over me” (Ps. 42:7).

They are HIS billows, whether they go o’er us,
Hiding His face in smothering spray and foam;
Or smooth and sparkling, spread a path before us,
And to our haven bear us safely home.

They are HIS billows, whether for our succor
He walks across them, stilling all our fear;
Or to our cry there comes no aid nor answer,
And in the lonely silence none is near.

They are HIS billows, whether we are toiling
Through tempest-driven waves that never cease,
While deep to deep with clamor loud is calling;
Or at His word they hush themselves in peace.

They are HIS billows, whether He divides them,
Making us walk dryshod where seas had flowed;
Or lets tumultuous breakers surge about us,
Rushing unchecked across our only road.

They are HIS billows, and He brings us through them;
So He has promised, so His love will do.
Keeping and leading, guiding and upholding,
To His sure harbor, He will bring us through.

Stand up in the place where the dear Lord has put you, and there do your best. God gives us trial tests. He puts life before us as an antagonist face to face. Out of the buffeting of a serious conflict we are expected to grow strong. The tree that grows where tempests toss its boughs and bend its trunk often almost to breaking, is often more firmly rooted than the tree which grows in the sequestered valley where no storm ever brings stress or strain. The same is true of life. The grandest character is grown in hardship. –Selected

Pure Gold

th-13

“For the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your [mind and ] heart and with your entire being.” Deuteronomy 13:3 Amplified

It is in the heat of the flame that separates the impurities from pure gold.

Although we don’t necessarily find times of testing enjoyable, these times determine what we are truly made of in the process.

The fire takes nothing from the property of the gold, nor decreases its value. Similarly, testing times are used to purify our hearts. Testing times also help us see how much we have learned and grown in our walk with God.

There is a familiar quote that says, “When a teacher is teaching he/she talks, but when a teacher is testing he/she is silent.”The same holds true with the God. He is always in the midst of every test we face, and even though He may be silent, His silence doesn’t mean that He is absent.

During our trials, the Lord is our endurance. He is our strength during difficulties, patience during times of testing, and peace during tribulation.

Yes, it may be hot during the process of purification, but we will come forth as pure gold.

Right There

Testing times although tough, can also help us see how much we have learned and grown in our walk with the Lord.  We all know that a teacher’s job is to teach, and a part of teaching is also our subjection to testing.

There is a familiar quote that says, ” When a teacher is teaching they talk, but when they are testing they are quiet.”   Well, just to encourage you this day, the Lord is always in the midst of every test we face, and even though it appears that He is absent, His silence doesn’t mean that He is absent.  He is ever present.

The LORD your God is testing you to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
