Lay It At the Cross

As a toddler, I began doodling and writing.    From the time I could hold a crayon, I would write on any piece of paper in sight.  Needless to say, once I started kindergarten,  (after finishing my assignment of course)… I would draw on the corners of my worksheet; the sun, clouds, smiling faces….typical kid stuff.

The teacher, Mrs. Wilkerson wasn’t nearly as thrilled as I with my artistic creations, telling my mother that I was spending way too much time day-dreaming in class.

Smiling now, I didn’t see it that way…..I was simply making my paper pretty, a letter of sorts to her. 6820724_orig.jpg [Side note: To this day, she was my favorite educator and provides me with such fond memories of my childhood.]

Ok! Back to the subject……

However, as I matured into adulthood, I realized that this was a coping tool for me when I needed to gain perspective on whatever was going on in life.

Most of the time after pouring my heart out onto a blank page, I felt that I was better able to step back and view whatever is/was going on more objectively than my emotions would otherwise allow, yet with NO real plausible solution.

Where am I going with this?

Well, just as recording my thoughts onto paper offers me fresh perspective, I now know that pouring our hearts out to GOD in prayer helps us gain His perspective and remind us of His power in whatever we are facing.

When we’re faced with a situation that brings anxiety, fear, or a deep awareness that getting through it will require more than what we possess, lets not resort to doodling and turning it over in our minds.  Instead, run straight to Jesus.

A great example was provided us in 2 Kings 19: 9-19 .  King Hezekiah, after receiving an unsettling letter from an ominous adversary the Assyrians, whom threatened to destroy Jerusalem, as they had many other nations….placed the letter before the LORD.  He prayerfully called upon God to deliver the people, so that the world would recognize that He alone could deliver them.

“Then[Hezekiah] went up to the temple of the LORD and spread it out before the LORD.” 2Kings 19:14

We too, should follow this example.  When we receive unsettling news. Pray, meditate in the word of God, and place whatever problem and or concern at the feet of Jesus. Trusting that He will intercede on our behalf, order our steps, provide a solution, and calm our uneasy hearts, all according to His purpose and plan.

God is our greatest help in times of trouble. He is our Deliverer from every fiery trial and a testimony to the world that He is in control of all things.

A Time To Believe

To believe is to know that every day is a new beginning.

Is to trust that miracles happen,

and dreams really do come true.
To believe is to see angels

dancing among the clouds,

To know the wonder of a stardust sky

and the wisdom of the man in the moon.
To believe is to know the value of a nurturing heart,

The innocence of a child’s eyes

and the beauty of an aging hand,

for it is through their teachings we learn to love.
To believe is to find the strength

and courage that lies within us

When it’s time to pick up

the pieces and begin again.
To believe is to know

we are not alone,

That life is a gift

and this is our time to cherish it.
To believe is to know

that wonderful surprises are just

waiting to happen,

And all our hopes and dreams are within reach.
If only we believe.

Have Faith In God

WHEN the stormy winds are blowing,
And the angry billows roll,imagesFZXKTSIX
When the mighty waves of trouble
Surge around thy stricken soul,
Have faith in God,
Who reigns above;
Yea, trust in Him,
For He is love.

When the way is rough and thorny,
Danger all along the path,
When the foe is ever planning
How to crush thee in his wrath,
Have faith in God;
His loving care
Shall keep thee safe
From every snare.

When thine eyes are dim with weeping,
And thy heart is full of woe
For the loved that now are sleeping
In the silent grave so low,
Have faith in God;
The dead shall rise
And meet the Savior
From the skies.

Art thou filled with eager longing
For the night to pass away?
Art thou weary of the watching
For the dawning of the day?
Have faith in God;
He is our stay;
Soon, soon will come
The perfect day.

Art thou hoping, waiting, praying,
For the presence of the Lord?
Art thou waiting for the Kingdom,
And the glorious reward?
Have faith in God;
Our King is here,
And soon His glory will appear.

Things To Remember

Your presence is a present to the world.
You’re unique and one of a kind.
Your life can be what you want it to be.Related image
Take the days just one at a time.

Count your blessings, not your troubles.
You’ll make it through whatever comes along.
Within you are so many answers.
Understand, have courage, be strong.

Don’t put limits on yourself.
So many dreams are waiting to be realized.
Decisions are too important to leave to chance.
Reach for your peak, your goal, and your prize.

Nothing wastes more energy than worrying.
The longer one carries a problem, the heavier it gets.
Don’t take things too seriously.
Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets.

Remember that a little love goes a long way.
Remember that a lot . . . goes forever.
Remember that friendship is a wise investment.
Life’s treasures are people . . . together.

Realize that it’s never too late.
Do ordinary things in an extraordinary way.
Have heath and hope and happiness.
Take the time to wish upon a star.

And don’t ever forget . . .
For even a day . . .
How very special you are.

Let Me Talk With THEE

images9zhoyofy

LORD, let me talk with Thee of all I do,
All that I care for, all that I wish for, too;
Lord, let me prove Thy sympathy, Thy power,
Thy loving oversight from hour to hour!
When I need counsel, let me ask of Thee:
Whatever my perplexity may be,
It cannot be too trivial to bring
To One who marks the sparrow’s drooping wing;
Nor too terrestrial since Thou has said
The very hairs are numbered on our head.
‘Tis through such loop-holes that the foe takes aim,
And sparks, unheeded, burst into a flame.
Do money troubles press? Thou canst resolve
The doubts and dangers such concerns involve.
Are those I love the cause of anxious care?
Thou canst unbind the burdens they may bear.
Before the mysteries of Thy Word or will,
Thy voice can gently bid my heart be still,
Since all that now is hard to understand
Shall be unraveled in yon heavenly land.
Or do I mourn the oft-besetting sin,
The tempter’s wiles, that mar the peace within?
Present Thyself, Lord, as the absolving priest,
To whom confessing, I go forth released.
Do weakness, weariness, disease, invade
This earthly house, which Thou Thyself hast made?
Thou only, Lord, canst touch the hidden spring
Of mischief, and attune the jarring string.
Would I be taught what Thou wouldst have me give,
The needs of those less favored to relieve?
Thou canst so guide my hand that I shall be
A liberal, “cheerful giver,” Lord, like Thee.
Of my life’s mission, do I stand in doubt?
Thou knowest and canst clearly point it out.
Whither I go, do Thou Thyself decide,
And choose the friends and servants by my side.
The books I read, I would submit to Thee,
Let them refresh, instruct and solace me.
I would converse with Thee from day to day,
With heart intent on what Thou hast to say;
And through my pilgrim walk, whate’er befall,
Consult with Thee, O Lord, about it all.
Since Thou art willing thus to condescend
To be mine intimate, familiar friend,
Oh, let me to the great occasion rise,
And count Thy friendship life’s most glorious prize.

Climb Til Your Dream Comes True

Often your tasks will be many,
And more than you think you can do.
Often the road will be rugged
And the hills insurmountable, too.

But always remember, the hills ahead
Are never as steep as they seem,
And with Faith in your heart start upward
And climb ‘Til you reach your dream.

Than knowledge or power or skill
And many defeats turn to triumph
If you trust in God’s wisdom and will.

For Faith is a mover of mountains.
There’s nothing that God cannot do,
So start out today with Faith in your heart
And ‘Climb ‘Til Your Dream Comes True’ !

In the Midst

In the midst of my painimages6tjz9wge
Do not allow my living be in vain.
For I must not kick and shove
I must be harmless as a dove.
Yet I need Your wisdom from above
For the storms are raging and the waters
Threaten to over take me…the dark
Clouds are gathering…but in the midst
Of it all I see a glimmer of light..yes!
In the midst of the angry billows, the light
Is getting even brighter.

In the midst.. I see you Oh Lord the Lover
Of my soul, who in the midst brings peace
To my soul. Calming all my fears in the midst!
You bring me joy in the midst of my pain.
For in the midst of my sorrow You have made
Me to dance before You..and Oh the joy
That overflows my soul in the midst of this
Wealthy place you have brought me into!
